Getting started
How do I create an account?
Download Beerscope from the App Store or Google Play, open the app, and tap Register. You'll need an email address, a username, and to confirm you're 18 or over. You're logged straight in after registering — no email confirmation step.
Why do you need my date of birth?
Beerscope is an alcohol-related service. We're required to verify that users are aged 18 or over before they can use the app. We store your date of birth securely and don't share it with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
I've forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
Password reset is coming soon. In the meantime, email us at hello@animoit.co.uk and we'll sort it manually.
Scanning and logging
How do I log a beer?
Tap the Sup tab at the bottom of the app. Point the camera at a barcode on the bottle or can. If the beer is in our catalogue, you'll see its species card — add an optional rating or tasting notes, then tap Log sup. For draught beers without a barcode, use the "Log a draught" option to search the catalogue by name.
The app doesn't recognise my beer. What do I do?
If the barcode isn't in our catalogue yet, you'll see an "Unknown specimen" screen. You can submit the barcode for review — optionally add the beer's name if you know it — and our team will look into adding it. We're growing the catalogue all the time.
Can I log the same beer more than once?
Yes. Each time you log a beer your sup count for that species goes up. Logging the same beer repeatedly records how many times you've had it.
How do I add a location to a sup?
On the sup confirmation screen, tap "Add location" before tapping Log sup. The app will ask for location permission — this is optional and only used for that specific sup. We store an approximate location only (rounded to around 111 metres).
Collection and catalogue
What is the Collection tab?
The Collection tab shows every species you've supped, grouped by taxonomic order. Switch to Browse mode to explore the full catalogue, even species you haven't found yet.
What are the rarity tiers?
Every species in the catalogue is classified as Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary. The classification reflects how widely available the beer is — Legendary species are the hardest to find in the wild.
What are orders?
Species are grouped into taxonomic orders — broad style categories like Lageria (lagers), Alea (ales), and Nigra (dark beers). Completing an entire order unlocks an achievement.
Account and data
How do I delete my account?
Account deletion is available from within the app. Tap the Profile tab, then Log out. To fully delete your account and all associated data, email us at hello@animoit.co.uk with the subject line "Account deletion". We'll action it within 30 days.
What data do you hold about me?
We hold your username, email address, date of birth, and the sups you've logged (including optional ratings, notes, and locations). See our Privacy Policy for full details and how to request a copy of your data.
Email us and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
